Swing it bebe.

Here’s some fun facts about me.

Something quirky about me
I learned how to play the guitar when I was 12 years old. 18 years later I finally accepted the fact that I’m tragically and undeniably just lefthanded – but I still strum it proud!

Favorite color
Blue was my longest phase. Then I had a green and red phase. I spent 20 years dodging the color pink and now I can’t seem to have enough of it!

My favorite thing to do when I was a kid
Catch and play with lady bugs in the garden… and suck nectar out of little red flowers.

How I learned to swim
The hard way. I was 3 years old when my dad threw me out of the boat and into the sea without a life jacket.

What I am craving for at the moment
Mexican Machacas and a wicked bowl of Cendol!

Why do you have such an accent?
My parents are slightly Anglosized from their years in the U.K., late grandfather is an American from North Carolina, my school employed international teachers, I lived in the U.S. between Hawaii and New York City for 7 years. After that, I went back to Malaysia and blended in with my countrymen for another few years and last but definitely not finally (Australia anyone?), I’ve been in the United Kingdom for the past 1.5 years and picked up a lilt from imbibing the sexy twang of the Britons!

Run Lola-not Run!

Favorite movies
Cinema Paradiso by Giuseppe Tornatore, Puteri Gunung Ledang, God of the Gamblers with Chow Yun Fatt and anything with Al Pacino or Robert DeNiro in it.

How would you describe yourself?
I am a friendly Malaysian-Bornean girl, New Yorker and Londoner. An authentic island soul that is warm to the feel and nicely balanced with a highly-developed urban sensibility.

What are you most proud of about your country?
The food of course! There’s nothing quite like a plate of Char Kuay Teow at Gurney Street in Penang or fresh seafood in Sabah.

What is your pet peeve?
I really dislike gossip and shun away from people who gossip-monger. I don’t like seeing people get into the habit of putting other people down. It’s just not tasty. I love talking about ideas!

My weakness
Good chocolate! The Executive Chef of a hotel I used to work for would torture me every now and again by sending some handmade chocolate up to my room just so he could snicker from the look on my face the next day. What a sadist he was.
