Came upon this blog while trying to find someone blogging about cycling in KK. By the way, I would stay away from using WD-40 as a degreaser or anywhere near the chain. It works but also wears the chain faster. :) I know a lot of cyclist does that but well ... I would like to believe that they have not been informed or read much into that matter. :) Chains don't come cheap. What I do is scrub the chain with mild soap (hardly do any serious MTB-ing so I hardly get much red dirt on the chain), let it dry with a rag and then pour own some synthetic lube from Park Tool which I also use to lube the pivots on the RD, FD and the cable wires. Park Tool also carries a bike specific degreaser.
