Hi MS,
Thanks for your comment! Actually I have read somewhere about WD-40 corroding the chain but they clean so well. The mild soap and water solution sounds like the sensible thing to do though saying that, won’t water with sodium lauryl sulfate cause some rusting between the links?

Hi!

Came upon this blog while trying to find someone blogging about cycling in KK. By the way, I would stay away from using WD-40 as a degreaser or anywhere near the chain. It works but also wears the chain faster. :) I know a lot of cyclist does that but well ... I would like to believe that they have not been informed or read much into that matter.

:) Chains don't come cheap. What I do is scrub the chain with mild soap (hardly do any serious MTB-ing so I hardly get much red dirt on the chain), let it dry with a rag and then pour own some synthetic lube from Park Tool which I also use to lube the pivots on the RD, FD and the cable wires. Park Tool also carries a bike specific degreaser.

Here's some info though.

More on Park Tool stuffs: (of course, there are other brands as well out there non WD-40)

<a href="#comment-135" rel="nofollow">@Pinchy </a>
Thanks Pinchy, glad you like my blog posts. As I'm not a parent nor a school teacher, I don't actually know about kiddy activities happening in KK. Perhaps it's better to ask friends in KK who have children? :) I thoroughly welcome email comments from my readers but due to my hectic schedule I may not be in a position to respond to some questions at all and others in a timely manner! Best wishes... - Jackie

Back again but this time I have a question.

Imagine that you are a parent of two. You can pick the gender if you like. Do you know of any good community activities for families with young children to participate in for free/minimal costs in KK/Sabah? Do you know if any is offered on a regular basis? Is there such a thing as Little Athletics?

Hey I only just saw the tab at the top that allows me to contact you directly via email. Do you mind if I contact you via email if I have other questions?

When I first read about you mountain-biking I instantly thought, "Hey! This woman is not all talk and no action." Now that I am reading about you taking care of your bike yourself, I am thinking, "I can't believe that this woman is getting her fingers dirty doing this." You surprise me, Jackie!

Oh, I also clicked on the photo you took of the kitesurfer. That is one cool sport I wish to take up someday. May be you should give it a go too.
