My Best Job in the World application

My Best Job in the World application

Kudos to the team at islandreefjob.com. I had expected a 5-7 day turnaround for my video application to make its debut and had hoped to reskin my site for brand appeal before then, but it took them only 2 days to approve my video.

So now I’m caught in between being really impressed with their quick response and also slightly regretful that I have to put you guys on hold for two days because I am beginning my transcontinental trip from Sabah through Singapore to London and Madrid in a few hours.

Nevertheless, I promise to keep you updated at airports and when I get home to London. Check out my application and if you want to see me at the Great Barrier Reef please do transmit the link as recklessly and virally as possible. :D The more rampant the better! I trust that you can infect the Internet on my behalf while I’m offline!

Here’s the video! Remember to rate it with love. See you guys on the other side!

Sunset by Jesselton Point

Sunset by the Jetty

Here are some pictures of me with a typical sunset seen from Jesselton Point. I think the juxtaposition between my English and Bornean complexion is rather striking don’t you think? :)

Catching the Sun

Artistic and goofy shot of me appearing to catch the hot hot sun with my bare bare hands!

Sunset by Jesselton Point

Can’t you tell I’m grateful for having been born and raised on the 3rd largest island in the world?
Hoping for the Great Barrier ReefLast but not least, here’s me dreaming of going to the largest island continent of Australia to be an Island Caretaker for the Great Barrier Reef.

Eating Live Sago Worms

February 19th, 2009 admin No comments

My wingmen Charles and Warence thought it would be fun if I ate some live sago worms so we drove to Monsopiad Cultural Village on Wednesday morning in search of some wriggly snacks. After surviving the spooky tour of the “House of Skulls” which featured the heads of 42 enemies of Monsopiad the Warrior, we proceeded to have some fat and juicy sago grubs. The local Kadazan-Dusun tribe call the sprightly rotund larvae Butod, which is harvested from the inside of a dead palm treetrunk. These grubs are traditionally eaten raw or fried with garlic and oil, though as you will soon see I braved it completely au naturel. It is regarded by the villagers as a nutritious beauty supplement to be enjoyed by women for anti-aging insurance. So far there have been 146 views on this video! I’m pretty impressed since it’s only been a day since I uploaded it to YouTube and already it is generating a lot of reaction! Check it out for yourself. :)
